BenevolentAI, founded in 2013, creates and applies AI technologies to transform the way medicines are discovered and developed. BenevolentAI seeks to improve patients’ lives by applying technology designed to generate better data decision making and in doing so decrease drug discovery failure rates, lower drug development costs and increase the speed at which medicines are generated. The company has developed the Benevolent Platform™ - a discovery platform used by BenevolentAI scientists to find new ways to treat disease and personalise drugs for patients.

BenevolentAI is HQ’d in London with a research facility in Cambridge (UK) and further offices in New York and Antwerp. BenevolentAI has active R&D drug programmes from discovery to Phase IIb in disease areas such as ALS, Atopic dermatitis, Ulcerative Colitis and Sarcopenia.

THE ROLE

As the Product Manager for Cheminformatics, you will contribute towards defining the BenevolentAI Drug Discovery Cheminformatics strategy, identifying our Chemistry/Cheminformatics user needs and set the short and long-term product roadmap. We are keen to hear from Senior Product Managers with experience leading AI/ML-focussed teams in spaces challenging for their uncharted nature and with a proven track record building scientific products that create significant impact for their users.

Primary responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying the Cheminformatics product area vision and requirements and involved in defining the products within the Cheminformatics area that are able to satisfy those requirements

  • Makes decisions on the Cheminformatics product level, based on the knowledge of the wider platform and competitive advantage in/across the market

  • Provides clarity in areas of high uncertainty within the Cheminformatics product area, leading teams through the product development lifecycle, from discovery to successful adoption or retirement

  • Prioritises effectively across multiple dimensions, where the urgent doesn’t always outdo the important. Ensures the right balance between new products, new features, product/infrastructure maintenance, addressing production bugs and addressing issues in usability. Balances well short-/medium-/long-term work items.

  • Applies a metric-driven approach to assess the “success” of the product, both in terms of the use of the software system as well as with regard to the defined objectives

  • Communicates/evangelises the Cheminformatics product area strategy and roadmap across the business and provides the required details and insights on how work spanning many cycles will impact the company’s strategic goals in both the short and long-term.

  • Collaborate with members of the Drug Discovery, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, UX and Product teams to deliver BenevolentAI corporate strategic goals

We’re looking for someone with…

  • A MSc in a STEM field

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager in a scientific environment

  • 7+ years of experience in technical teams in relevant industries

  • Experience leading technical teams with a strong AI/ML component

  • Experience in biomedical sciences and Cheminformatics a definite plus

  • Experience in a commercial and agile environment

  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle

  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels and across all departments.
